You may have heard of the One Laptop per Child program. If you haven’t it is basically a program to get cheap, low spec laptops to children in the third world. Check out the website for more information on this great project.
I have found a way of getting the unique software that runs on the XO laptop to be emulated on my Ubuntu desktop very easily. The software is a variant of Linux called Sugar. I had to lower the resolution as the XO laptop uses a resolution greater than my Laptop! I even managed to install the open source version of Sim City that is only availible for Sugar currently. Unfortunately it wouldn’t run with 800×600 resolution that I had to set the Emulator to. Check out the picture below.
