According to a BBC story I have just read, half of all the Mexicans in America have illegally entered. I haven’t read everything that the American government is doing about this but it seams that they’re mainly concerned about strengthening their border wall and controls.

Has it crossed the minds of any American politician that if they were just to collaborate with the Mexican government and local officials from the Mexican border towns especially, then they could start making the life of an ordinary Mexican better? Then they wouldn’t have the need to illegally cross the border looking for work.

Perhaps I’m being too idealistic or naive here.

I mean can you imagine what it must be like being born near of the border of America into a poor family? You would probably see rich Americans coming over all the time with their nice clothes and large cars. You would be quite frustrated that just a few miles away people were living in such luxury compared to what you have. ‘If only I was born a few miles north’ they probably think. And who can blame them?

Perhaps someone should mention oil and then America might come and ‘aid’ Mexico. Then again I don’t wanted it bombed to bits as it seams to be a nice country when I was there!
