| > Poland: Nowa Huta Photos | (03.05.2008) |
It’s past midnight, so yesterday I went to Nowa Huta which was built as a model socialist city in the 1950s and 60s to house the workers of the Nowa Huta (New Steelworks). Although one would expect the usual mix of grey boring blocks with plenty of socialist architecture there is also a surprising amount of older churches and houses. Before Nowa Huta was built there were several villages which have been incorporated into Nowa Huta. This give us the chance to view some older churches and even an Abbey. I followed the Nowa Huta Route mainly and this gave me a very through tour of all the main sights. Check out more about Nowa Huta on the Wikipedia link above.
